When you find an old school biker t-shirt as old as you…you buy it and never take it off. I don’t know how I let this shop slip right under my nose all these years, but I recently wandered into F as in Frank on Main street—and oh my god it was like vintage tees galore. Been on a mini hunt for a biker tee for a minute so imagine my glee when I found this Bike Week 95′ one. It’s oversized, it’s got paint splatters, it’s got profanity…It was easily love at first sight.

Definitely heavily influenced by HeyClaire (if you guys don’t know who she is, you’re seriously living under a rock) with the vintage tee, cut off shorts, and Chuck Taylors. I’ve some how come full circle with my style. What started from Chucks, graphic tees, and skinny jeans has gone everywhere and back. I think the kid in me is low key doing her happy dance knowing that now I can rock these outfits and they look “trendy” and “effortless” and all those other words that I never used to think I could describe my style as.

I find it almost funny how something as simple as a baggy t-shirt that fits well can make me feel as confident as a $120 blouse from Aritzia or a $1300 bag from Alexander Wang. Your personal style is SO not about the price tag. I can’t lie, I like nice things too. But I’m just as proud of my vintage tee collection and my favourite thrifted sweatshirts.

My style definitely changes depending on my mood, the weather, the season, my body—there are so many factors that play a part in deciding what I wear. I used to feel some type of way when I asked people what they would define my style as and they’d say “honestly…I don’t know”. I now think it’s crazy that single descriptive words like “edgy” or “trendy” or “normcore” would make me happy.

I’m definitely starting to really appreciate not being able to be defined by one word. It’s just a little more proof that I am becoming my own person and truly feeling comfortable in my skin. Which is probably the best goal to strive for in my opinion.

I’ve been feeling really inspired lately to create something new and exciting. And I think it’s all going to start with this website. There’s still a lot of details to be hashed out but I’m really excited to piece it all together.

Look out for something awesome.
