Travel For Better Health*

When thinking about reasons to go on vacation, most people’s first thought won’t be the health benefits they can get from it. Instead, most will be concerned with how much time they will get to relax, and how they will manage to do it with life’s issues hanging over them. Today I want to explore some of the health benefits a vacation can bring! I’ve been traveling more this year than I have ever before and have definitely noticed the benefits. Hopefully this will be the sign you’re looking for to take a trip or just do a staycation. 



Spending time out of work and relaxing can have a huge positive impact on your emotions. By relieving you from the stress of work, you will get the chance to explore the emotions which are usually shadowed by it. Of course, along with this, it’s hard not to be in a good mood when you’re somewhere beautiful! Some of my happiest, most care-free moments this year was while I was exploring a different city. And those happy emotions always lingered, improving the way I felt for weeks to come. It’s amazing what a week or two in another country or city can do for you. Although this may not tie directly into health, it’s still an important aspect of life.

Mental Health

In reality, your emotions are only scratching the surface of what your vacation can do, and this goes much further. Your mental health ties directly into your emotions, being controlled by them. A lot of the times, a trip away from home is not only a physical leave. When I am away traveling, I am taking a mental leave from everything that stresses me out or brings me down at home. There are even companies like Choices Retreats that offer vacations built around the idea of improving your mind! If this is the main reason that you want to travel (and you know what issues you need to work on) it’s a good option to check out. 


I know fitness is the LAST thing most people think of when they think of the word “vacation”. I know personally, whenever I travel I make it a goal TO EAT AS MUCH AS I CAN. But, if it’s something you are concerned about, most hotels have gyms, and this gives you a great chance to get excited about your fitness. Along with this, you will also be given loads of chances to walk on your vacation (as I did in New York), which gives you a chance to burn LOADS of calories. 


Finally, as the last area to consider, most people won’t think about their immunity when they’re travelling around the world. In reality, though, travelling to a new place is one of the very best ways to improve your health. Being exposed to loads of people, different diseases, and a long trip will all put your body to the test. At the end of it, though, you will only be stronger having been through it.

Hopefully, this post will inspire you to start working harder on the time you put into your traveling as well as your health! A lot of people find it hard to keep fit and healthy and also vacation, but with the right amount of effort, it should be easy to start making improvements in this area! So what are you waiting for?
