My home decor has slowly grown and grown since I moved in over a year ago. We tried pieces, we sold pieces, and switched them out for new pieces. I feel like we’ve finally reached a place where we LOVE how our home looks and I’m looking forward to sharing some of my favourite pieces with you.

One of my favourite corners of my place currently is my reading nook in my room. I just love how this space looks and makes me feel. Although my shelves have been quickly filled with books, decor, and storage, I just love this messy yet organized nook and what it represents.

I’ve always wanted a reading nook in my room and the Eternity Modern Pierre Jeanneret Floating Back Armchair fit perfectly in the space. My room is still quite small and I had limited space at the foot of my bed where the bookshelf space was, so this was the ideal armchair that was comfortable yet would fit in my little space!

I absolutely love how this chair becomes an extra seating space in my living room as well when I have guests. Its beautiful and clean design fits perfectly into the living space. The style is so versatile and moves easily between the bedroom and the living room.

I’ve also seen images of people using the chair as dining chairs (which is what it’s intended for I believe). The weathered wood look with the cane would match a variety different textures and materials. Took this lovely photo from the Eternity Modern

Absolutely in love with the chair and I can’t wait to style it more in upcoming content! Highly recommend Eternity Modern if you’re looking for timeless and high quality pieces for your home. They make insanely beautiful reproductions of famous designs and are definitely worth every penny!

Current Vintage Bedside Decor—and where I got them! https://speakoftheangel.com/current-vintage-bedside-decor-and-where-i-got-them/ https://speakoftheangel.com/current-vintage-bedside-decor-and-where-i-got-them/#respond Sat, 29 Aug 2020 04:48:13 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=7625 If you had told me even a few months ago I would be absolutely hooked on vintage decor shopping…I would probably believe you. I’ve always loved thrift hunting, whether it’s for clothes or for trinkets and accessories. But truly my obsession has taken a turn for the better (or worst, but mainly just for my wallet). Beyond just sifting through my local salvation army, I’ve also been supporting some small local brands online.

My beautiful tesselated bedside table was sourced by none other than my amazing friend Vernice Tan. She runs her own lifestyle/fashion page on Instagram and has recently started a separate page for her furniture and interior passion. Would definitely recommend following her page @vern.iture for the best local Vancouver vintage furniture finds.

My candle holder and seashell catchall are both also from Canadian small businesses based off of Instagram and Etsy. The pink candle holder is from @andfrombeginning, another local Vancouver home decor shop. The shell catchall is from @lesloleries from Quebec and she runs her store off Etsy.

In other exciting news, I’ve decided to take Capsule The Brand even further and start selling more than just clothes! I really enjoyed the process of making hand-made masks during quarantine, and that was such a fun project that I worked on for Capsule. But beyond that, I wanted to grow Capsule along with my interest and start to bring on home decor and other vintage pieces to the shop!

I’m so excited to be starting this new chapter with Capsule and to share it with you! If you haven’t already, check out our brand Capsule site that I just finished last night. Some of the available home decor pieces are live now as well.

Can’t wait to share more of this journey with you!

Bright Accent Candles to Add to Any Home Decor https://speakoftheangel.com/bright-accent-candles-to-add-to-any-home-decor/ https://speakoftheangel.com/bright-accent-candles-to-add-to-any-home-decor/#respond Sun, 23 Aug 2020 06:37:53 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=7608 You’ve probably seen one or two (or a hundred) bright accent candles on Instagram lately. I won’t lie, I’ve found myself spending one too many hours searching for fun (yet affordable) candle accents for my own home!

Although expensive, some of these accent pieces are unique and beautiful enough that it’ll make you want to never burn them and keep them as decor pieces instead!

Here are some of the most beautiful bright accent candles that you can get for your home today!

Lex Pott Candles

Lex Pott Twist Candle

These are probably the most popular accent candle you’ll find on social media today. The fun twist designed mixed with the bright colours makes this the perfect pieces to brighten up your home.

Most colours are sold out across the internet but I found (and purchased) this bright yellow one from Urban Outfitters.

Twist CandleTwist Candles

Spiral Candles

There are several different retailers that carry similar spiral candles but similar to the Lex Pott ones, this candle is a fun twist (haha) on your typical candle stick. You can find similar ones here and here.

Goober Candle

Area Ware Goober Candles

I am stupid obsessed with how adorable these Goober candles are. Designed by Talbot & Yoon in their Brooklyn studio, each goober is distinctive and unique and take on their own cute bubbly shape.

Colour drip candles

Urban Outfitters Colour Drip Candles

If you’re looking for something that’s actually meant to be burnt, check out these beautiful colour drip candles from Urban Outfitters. Love how these get more and more beautiful as you burn them! Stop burning them at any point you’d like to create your own unique candle drip look!

Bauhaus and Other Current Home Inspirations https://speakoftheangel.com/bauhaus-and-other-current-home-inspirations/ https://speakoftheangel.com/bauhaus-and-other-current-home-inspirations/#respond Thu, 30 Jul 2020 01:23:48 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=7559 With a new home environment coming soon, I’ve been looking for an entirely different aesthetic to fill the space with. What was wood and dark colours is now most likely going to be lighter, brighter, and more airy. My inspirations for furniture have been drawing heavily from some of the key Bauhaus designers like Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, Mart Stam, and Eileen Grey. To the point where I’ve actually gone out and purchased a few reproduction items by them (oops).

Thought I would share some of my current favourite home inspirations, both specific furniture pieces as well as overall aesthetic.

Bauhaus and Other Current Home Inspirations

These vintage Plia chairs are seriously giving me life. I never knew I could feel some type of way for folding chairs but here I am, many hours of Facebook marketplace later, with my very own vintage Plia chair. I didn’t end up getting these clear ones, and instead got some smokey coloured ones. But I only spend $180 on the chair and I love how I can store this away when I’m not using it.

Bauhaus and Other Current Home Inspirations

Pretty much any kind of fun, structural table I’m really loving right now. This one I found on Pinterest is so unique and I love how it blends the soft shapes with a very rigid and hard looking material for a fun juxtaposition.

Bauhaus and Other Current Home Inspirations

This general palette is absolutely beautiful and definitely on my inspo board. Love how they paired the natural wood colour floors and chair with lots of shades of beige and soft textures to create a very calm and relaxing environment. Then they brought in the travertine coffee table and marble side table which then adds this wonderful structural edge to it…overall I think they paired this living room perfectly and I’m in love with all the pieces both together and individually.

Bauhaus and Other Current Home Inspirations

This desk set from Fabio Lenci is just… ugh. *chef’s kiss*. A huge aspect of what I love about these retro furniture designers is their use of tubular steel in such a fluid manner. That paired with the transparent lucite (or acrylic? Not sure about this one) just makes this piece so much softer and more beautiful than if it was in a wood finish.

Marcel Breuer and Mart Stam have definitely played a big part in my new found obsession with this Bauhaus era of furniture design. Specifically the CHAIRS. I didn’t know I could be this obsessed with chairs but here I am, hundreds of pins on Pinterest, and hunting down two Mart Stam s34 chairs later (oops).

Last but not least, waterfall/sled style tables for desks (and side tables) are also all over my moodboard. There’s just something about hard materials being bent in such a soft and effortless way that has really caught my eye and stole my heart. Although I didn’t get a glass waterfall table for a desk myself, I did end up investing a waterfall coffee table so stay tuned for an updated apartment tour both here and on my YouTube!

What are some of your favourite furniture pieces and inspirations?

The Shoreline Tofino: A-Frame House https://speakoftheangel.com/shoreline-tofino-frame-house/ https://speakoftheangel.com/shoreline-tofino-frame-house/#respond Sun, 07 Apr 2019 22:42:01 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=6918 Last week, I got to stay at the beautiful boutique hotel, The Shoreline. Although we personally stayed in Cabin Suite 4, they let us poke our heads into their stunning A-Frame House when it was vacant so that we could snap some photos.

I’m definitely leaning towards doing more travel content on the blog and I thought Tofino would be a great place to start. I have quite a few trips planned for 2019, and so I thought it was about time I got behind the camera more and started documenting my travels a little more religiously. Seems like most of my readers and Instagram family are pretty receptive towards travel content, which is perfect because I always have a great time creating it.

The Details

The A-frame house at The Shoreline, looks over a cute little dock in the Tofino harbour. In the back of the house, there are two private decks with one containing a stunning outdoor, ocean-view hot tub and the other a barbecue. There’s even a outdoor shower for you to rinse off in before you head back indoors.

The house itself has 2 queen bedrooms, 1 en-suite bathroom in the master bedroom downstairs, and a full bathroom for sharing on the main floor. It’s also got an adorable loft on top of the main living space which features 2 single beds.

In the middle of the living space, there is a cozy fireplace with spare firewood on the side. They’ve got the house set up to feel like a home, so it’s definitely perfect for families or other groups of 4-6.

The Photos

I went a little crazy photographing the place because it seemed like every corner of the house was photogenic as heck. I’m sharing a bunch of the photos below so you can get a good idea of what the house offers if you’re planning a trip to Tofino.
