It’s the building next to the neon sign on Pender that says “Jack Chow Insurance”. The light up background makes for a great backdrop and I’m glad I beared the cold to shoot here. I’ll include a map at the bottom of this post if you want to know how to get there.

Athleisure has become more and more prominent in Vancouver’s fashion scene in the last year but I think this year it really has stolen the spotlight. Vancouver has always been a city full of athletic-wear clad active, healthy individuals anyways. So I think that is a huge reason why we’ve adopted the comfort and versatility of athleisure so easily. For me personally, some how hoodies have made its way back into my closet. I love pairing a simple hoodie with a coat for a more “normcore” look, or with a bomber for a more relaxed “chill” look.

My favourite bomber lately has been this one from Zaful. It’s very affordable, which is always a plus, and actually surprised me with its quality. It’s been a staple this winter as Vancouver has been unnaturally cold. The inside of the jacket is actually quilted and padded so it retains body heat extremely well. There is also an extra pocket on the inside of the jacket which has been a life saver for my phone especially since the battery life has significantly decreased due to the cold. (Apple… DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PLEASE).

Zaful also always has discount codes hiding around their site so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for that. Here’s one that I found as I was leaving the site for 15% off. The code is “ZFCB01”. Enjoy!

Hope you guys are having a great week so far!

Goose https://speakoftheangel.com/goose/ https://speakoftheangel.com/goose/#respond Tue, 22 Nov 2016 03:35:46 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=3498 Vancouver went from light sweaters and no jacket to pulling out the Goose jacket REAL QUICK. The nice thing about owning a really warm jacket like my Savona bomber is that it keeps me warm enough that I can wear just an indoor shirt underneath and not worry about freezing to death when I’m outside. I’m actually really glad I got the green coloured Savona rather than sticking with the norm and getting black. Throughout the last few years I’ve pretty much converted my entire closet to a neutral / black and white palette so even though this jacket is green it still goes with most of the items in my wardrobe. Not to mention the jacket is a nice army green which I think is actually quite a versatile colour as it’s muted enough to almost be considered a “neutral” colour.

I didn’t think I would get so invested in bombers again but I’ve pretty much been living in them this season. The Kanaka bomber from Aritzia is another one I’ve been frequenting lately. As I’ve been pretty much only going to three places lately (school, work, gym) it’s been the perfect jacket to throw over any casual outfit.

I paired the jacket with a thin black turtleneck and my mid-rise Rocket Ventanas. The other trend that I’ve been guilty of repeating over and over again lately is the tight turtlenecks. I’m actually OBSESSED because they’re so easy to wear and style. Not to mention warm and comfortable too. Can’t believe I’ve never owned any before this season. The Huet shirt from Aritzia has been my favourite one so far.

What pieces have you been consistently reaching for this season?

Home is Canada https://speakoftheangel.com/home-is-canada/ https://speakoftheangel.com/home-is-canada/#comments Sat, 02 Jul 2016 06:51:41 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=2057 Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I started collaborating with this amazing brand called Peace Collective a month or two back and oh man I’m in love. They are a Toronto based brand that not only sells cute ass clothes but also serves a greater purpose. They work with a lot of different influencers and content creators around Canada and strive to bring communities together in either empowering each other or for a greater cause. They also give $4 of the profit from selected garments to Breakfast to Learning, which provides a hungry child with two meals and a healthy snack.

A big thing that Peace Collective focuses on with all their garments is their love and pride for their home. Whether that’s Toronto specifically or Canada in general, all of their pieces reflect that love by featuring phrases such as “Toronto is Home”, “Home is Canada”, and “Canadian as fuck”.

I love that the concept behind this and am so proud to rep their brand and our home.

I was blessed enough to receive this amazing pink bomber as a birthday gift from PC. So not only are they a great brand with a bomb message but everyone is also nice as hell to boot. *Dies from disbelief*.

Definitely going to be creating a lot more content with their brand so stay tuned for that! But for now, if you want to get your own Peace Collective gear and rep Canada with me you can use my coupon code “speakoftheangel_” for 15% off. My favourite pieces so far are definitely their Denim Jacket and the Canadian as fuck hat

Quilted Bomber | Today’s Outfit https://speakoftheangel.com/quilted-bomber/ https://speakoftheangel.com/quilted-bomber/#respond Tue, 19 Jan 2016 05:48:37 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1497 Quilted Bomber Quilted Bomber Outfit Quilted Bomber Outfit IMG_2832 IMG_2826

I know my outfit photos have been less than interesting lately with the plain backgrounds. But I’ve had no time to actually whip out my trusty DSLR and go some where nice to shoot. Lately all my outfits have been shot quickly between classes on random plain walls that my school provides. Still got to do it though ! I hope that when spring rolls around and the daylight lasts longer I will have more time to spend on shooting. But as of right now, between 7 courses and working 3 days a week, these will just have to do.

So I recently purchased this adorable quilted bomber jacket at Aritzia. It actually went on sale from 150ish down to about 70ish (I don’t remember the exact prices) so I copped it right away. It’s definitely not your typical varsity styled bomber jacket. It’s got a more sleek, squared-off silhouette rather than the relaxed, slouchy fit you see most of the time. Something about this jacket gives off a Japanese-y / Oriental vibe, which I find really attractive and unique.

It’s also not a very long jacket which is a feature I usually don’t like. But I think the slight crop with this jacket works really well with it’s boxy silhouette. It’s boxy yet still slimming somehow. I LOVE IT.

I think it’s one of those awesome pieces that’s easy to wear, warm, and looks effortlessly stylish. Which is SO necessary to have when you’ve got 8:30 classes everyday, and practically no time to plan outfits.

I’ve been looking for a non-cropped green bomber for fall since this past summer. There were some great looking ones at Topshop and Forever 21, but every time I pick one up to try on, they all turn out to be a little too short for my liking. Blame it on my height I guess, but it was actually so difficult for me to find one that didn’t cut me off above my waistline.

Luckily, I stumbled upon this one while I accidentally walked into the men’s section of Urban Outfitters the other day. My eyes zipped right to it and it was love at first sight. I actually even said aloud “damn I wish I could fit into men’s sizes” and low and behold… they had an extra small that fit me just right.

Usually when I try on men’s clothing that I like, its the shoulders that mess everything up. Although I have quite square and wide shoulders, they still usually aren’t enough to fit into a men’s shirt or jacket. However, with this piece, I was able to make it work because I actually wanted my bomber to be slightly over-sized. Plus I was going to be layering it on top of warmer clothes for the fall and winter, so having a little wiggle room wasn’t necessarily a bad thing at all. I also love that this one is quilted and the fact that it actually keeps me warm.

And of course, that it’s a little longer than your average bomber, and cuts me off at mid bum/hip. LOOOOOVE IT.

If you’ve been having the same issue as me, definitely check out the mens section of Topshop and Urban Outfitters. I’m so glad I stumbled across this cause it’s definitely going to be a staple piece in my fall wardrobe this year.

Also, this nude nail and bomber look has got me feeling all Kardashian-esque. They should probably just adopt me into their family now. (Kangel Kardashian has a certain ring to it right?)
