I tend to mostly stick with wearing pants and shorts but something clicked in me recently and I want to be more girly! My ultimate style goal is to be a mixture of badass-casual like HeyClaire and sophisticated-girly like Serena Vanderwoodsen (yes I understand that she is a TV show character. Doesn’t mean she can’t be a style icon). I’m definitely still trying to figure out what my personal style is but really, experimenting and discovering it is half the fun! Processed with VSCO with a6 preset Processed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 presetMy favourite part about this skirt is definitely the distressing all along the front and bottom of the skirt. I find that this is probably the perfect gateway skirt from my usual distressed denim/shorts to my newly discovered skirt obsession. It also can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion and the accessories you pair it with. I wore it casually here with sneakers, a chill knit top, and my favourite oversized denim jacket. But I also loved how it looked with a crop top and booties for an effortless night out look. Processed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with s2 preset Processed with VSCO with s2 presetProcessed with VSCO with s2 preset

I wore this outfit when I did a day trip with Janice and Vernice to Victoria to explore. Was definitely the perfect outfit for the cool summer day that we were there! Not to mention definitely giving this outfit a 10/10 for comfort as well. I have a few more ‘discovering skirts’ outfits planned so hopefully I’ll have time to shoot for them soon! But for now I’ll leave you with some links to this one.

Other (AMAZING) One Teaspoon denim skirts!

All Summer Sixteen https://speakoftheangel.com/all-summer-sixteen/ https://speakoftheangel.com/all-summer-sixteen/#respond Wed, 27 Apr 2016 04:39:57 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1969 Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

With only a couple weeks of school left (my finals week is at the end of May), I can’t help but crave everything that is summer. Almost everyone I know from neighbouring universities and colleges in Vancouver are already off for the summer and off on vacations. Meanwhile I’m still struggling to stay awake in my 8:30 am classes at BCIT … WHY SO CRUEL WORLD?!

So, while I’m still imprisoned by classes I can only pretend to go to cool places to shoot… when in reality I literally went downstairs and found a corner of my apartment that looked acceptable and shot by myself with a remote and a tripod. 3 cheers for creativity though?

The Arlenis blouse from Aritzia is definitely going to be a summer favourite this year. I can just feel it. I bought it in the bleached indigo colour and have been LOVING it with my midrise and highrise jeans and shorts. I think I’m going to have to buy it in the dark indigo colour as well. It’s just such an easy top to wear.

I think it pairs beautifully with my mom jeans from Brandy Melville. The bleached denim shirt with the light blue denim bottoms makes for an easy “Canadian Tuxedo” look without being too out there matching the same shades of denim. I love the Canadian tuxedo look but it can definitely look a little much sometimes.

I originally wanted to pair a light-washed denim jacket on top to complete the look but I decided to break up the denim with my camel cardigan from Oak & Fort. Definitely ties it together in my opinion.

BY THE WAY… have you guys noticed the new page I added to my menu bar called “InstaShop?”

Pretty much I found a really quick and easy way to give you guys suggestions to wear you can purchase some of the items that I wear in my photos! Some of the items are exact but I try to find you guys an equivalent or a cheaper alternative! The link is https://speakoftheangel.com/instashop if you guys want to check it out! Or just look to the top of this page and there should be a link in the menu bar!

MASH UP @ Vancouver Art Gallery https://speakoftheangel.com/mash-vancouver-art-gallery/ https://speakoftheangel.com/mash-vancouver-art-gallery/#respond Sat, 09 Apr 2016 23:06:05 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1819 Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I finally got to visit the MASH UP exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery! I’ve been waiting for this weeks before the exhibit was even ready and Vernice and I finally found time to go and check it out.

The exhibit was freakin’ HUUUUGE. If you were planning to go see it I would give yourself at least 2 hours if you really wanted to take your time and walk through and look at everything. I definitely enjoyed myself a lot but Vern and I were able to finish all of it in about an hour because we both aren’t the types to sit and stare at the art and try to analyze. We pretty much looked at each piece, admired for a couple seconds, and moved on.

One of my favourite walls would definitely be the Warhol Marilyns. I got to see a bunch of Warhol’s work at the exhibit that happened in Vancouver last year, but I definitely did not mind seeing it again. Marilyn Monroe was such a beauty icon. That mixed with Andy Warhol, a pop-art icon, really created something that’s so cool and unique and just… awesome. Ugh I love it. 10/10 would have a Warhol Marilyn wall in my future home.

They used the entire gallery for the exhibit, and made great use of all the space too. There definitely wasn’t a single boring moment to say the least. If you’re from Vancouver, or you’re planning to visit soon, I would say definitely spend the money to go see the exhibit. Costs just under 30 dollars but it really is an eye opener. It address so much of our culture (TV, Music, Computers, Technology, Pop-art…) in unique perspectives. Definitely glad I got to see it.

Also Tuesday nights are a great night to go if you don’t want to spend the 25 dollars. They have entrance by donation on Tuesday nights. As if Tuesdays in Vancouver weren’t bomb enough…

By the way! Make sure you follow me on Snapchat (@azhng) to keep up with all my adventures. Vern and I had some pretty hilarious snaps while we were in the Art Gallery…

Talk to yall soon!
