Little bit of a throwback , don’t know why this wasn’t posted earlier, but Summer, Terri, Janice and I went to Rain or Shine ice cream !

I think compared to Earnest, Rain or Shine is probably my second favourite ice cream joint in Vancouver. However, they have this great Taco Tuesday deal (as seen in the second last photo), which features a waffle taco shell, two scoops of ice cream, and topping of your choice !

Got a shot of Terri taking a picture for her instagram as well ! Make sure you check out Summer’s instagram for great travel pictures of her trip to Europe, and Terri and Janice’s blogs for their adventures around Vancouver !

Until next time,

FOODIE FRIDAY : MIMIBULOVEME https://speakoftheangel.com/foodie-friday-mimibuloveme/ https://speakoftheangel.com/foodie-friday-mimibuloveme/#comments Fri, 06 Mar 2015 20:00:32 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=410 strawberry cheesecake parfait

I love how one of my January goals was to not to eat dessert, yet I’ve been on a huge dessert binge lately. It seems like everyday, when it hits about dinner time or later, all I can think about is “who should I call up to have dessert with me”. Maybe it’s the weather, or the fact that it’s that time of the month right now, but oh man… I can’t seem to survive a single day without having me some sweets somethin’ somethin’. But hey, at least more dessert means more Foodie Fridays for you guys, and that’s always good.

This week I wanted to talk about Mimibuloveme.

strawberry cheesecake parfait

Mimibulove me is this little dessert/bubbletea/pasta restaurant on Cambie and 41st. It is a few stores down from the Starbucks on 40th and Cambie. They used to be called something else, but I think they switched owners, and now they’re called Mimibuloveme.

I think the main attraction here are the parfaits. They also sell waffles, gelato, bubbletea and pasta, but most social media posts that I see of people going to Mimibuloveme are usually of their parfaits. Since I actually got to go to Nero waffles bar recently, I decided to skip on the waffles and try their Strawberry Cheesecake Parfait.

Man, was this good. Layers on layers of deliciousness. I thought that I would be able to finish one by myself, no problemo, but actually I could’ve definitely shared this with another person and still be satisfied.

The Strawberry Cheesecake parfait is made with whipped cream, strawberry cheesecake, strawberry&vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries, and coco puffs ! I thought that the coco puffs were a great addition. They really gave the parfait some texture. Not to mention they were delicious. Cathleen got the hazelnut gelato shown on the left.

Definitely a place to check out if your sweet tooth is acting up, and you are craving something delicious. I went when aunt flo was visiting (if you know what I mean), and it definitely made me feel a lot happier and better.

Until next week !

Soft Peaks ! https://speakoftheangel.com/soft-peaks/ https://speakoftheangel.com/soft-peaks/#comments Mon, 02 Mar 2015 18:38:52 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=567 11020388_353379181517680_1221893434_n

On Sunday my friend Summer and I visited Soft Peaks, a relatively new organic milk soft serve ice cream place. Soft Peaks have definitely blown up since its opening, and every time I’ve been so far, there has been a pretty substantial line up outside the door. This place is known for their soft serve ice cream that is made with Avalon organic milk, organic cream, organic milk powder, and organic stabilizers/ emulsifiers, which makes their desserts all-natural, and lower in fat and calories than regular ice cream.

Soft Peaks also greatly supports local businesses, from their toppings down to their cups and napkins. Oh not to mention, part of their sale proceeds goes to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation as well. TALK ABOUT AWESOME.

So far, their menu consists of 9 different topping combinations for their delicious dessert and also 4 different syrups you can further add to your ice cream. You can check out their website for the full menu here. Their also apparently coming out with milkshakes this summer ! Trust me when I say, I will be all over that shit in a heartbeat.

The two flavours I’ve got in the picture are the Green Forest and the Honeycomb Peak. Both of these cost $5.75 for a small size, and $6.75 for a regular.

The Green Forest consists of Organic Premium Matcha powder, sweet red beans, and condensed milk on top, and the Honeycomb Peak is their signature swirl topped with a piece of local honeycomb on top. We both got regulars !

If you’ve tried Soft Peaks before let me know how you liked it ! So far I’ve tried 4 flavours out of the 9, and these two are my favourites.

Their Address is 25 Alexander St. Their located right next to Portside Pub in Gastown for my fellow Vancouverites.

Their number is 604-559-2071

Hours : Wednesday – Sunday 12 – 9 pm (closed Mondays and Tuesdays)

Until next time,

BOSTON PIZZA DESSERT NIGHT ! https://speakoftheangel.com/boston-pizza-dessert-night/ https://speakoftheangel.com/boston-pizza-dessert-night/#comments Wed, 04 Feb 2015 11:45:10 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=307

Dessert will be the death of me. It seems like lately I’ve been treating myself to something sweet for every possible scenario. I’m sad? Dessert. Finished some studying? Dessert. I’m in a good mood? Dessert. Every reason I get, I want to reward myself with the ultimate temptation that is sugary goods. Probably the worst idea considering this year, I had wanted to really take hold of my life and be fit. Oops. What can I say… my sweet tooth is a serious struggle.

Tonight’s defeat was due to the location of the Blenz I was studying at. It was just so conveniently located right beside a Boston Pizza. My friends, Terri and Summer, started talking to me about this magical creation called the Panookie. So of course, we had to compensate the amount of studying we had done for the night with some heavenly sweetness.

Between the three of us, we shared two desserts. The first one that we got was their apple crisp. Basically, what it is, is a baked apple crumble. It is made with sweet Granny Smith apple slices in butter sauce, with a oat and brown sugar crust. It is then topped off with some caramel drizzle and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Oh. My. Lord. So good. Apple is one of my least favourite fruit to eat, but this was truly made to warm-melty-delicious perfection. The apple crisp costs $6.99.

And then of course, we had to order The Panookie. I’ve actually never heard of this treat prior to tonight, and WOW was I missing. The best way I can describe it, is that it is a giant, warm, soft chocolate chip cookie, coated with a caramel and fudge drizzle. And then of course, to finish, a ball of vanilla ice cream on top. One of my favourite desserts of all time is the lava cake, and yes, this is a little different, but it’s chocolate-y goodness was right up my alley. Costing only $4.99, I am definitely going to be eating a lot more Panookies this year. This was probably one of the worst discoveries to make this year solely due to the fact that I study at this Blenz location A LOT, buuuuut what can you do ? If it was meant to be, it was meant to be.

Oh, and just for informative purposes, the apple crisp has 760 calories, and the panookie has 880 calories. Just searching that up was painful, but incase anyone wanted to know. You can find all of Boston Pizza’s nutritional information here, just incase you wanted to eat smart… unlike me.

What are your favourite desserts to eat?

By the way ! My friend Terri actually writes a blog as well ! She is just getting started, but has a lot of great content, so if you have some time go show her some love ! I’ll link her blog here.

Until next time,
