Not actual shopping because you know—bills, life, and adulting stuff. But I still can’t help but browse now and again…It’s summer, and clothes are irresistibly cute ?

So instead of just saving the tabs for days, until I finally come to my senses and realize I don’t need another frilly summer top or pair of light coloured pants, I thought I would just share them with you. Incase there are some of you out there who aren’t trying to budget their entire life and actually have the freedom to buy some nice clothes.

So welcome to my “New In Summer Finds That I Am Loving” article. Or as I like to call it, “Angel Wailing About All The Clothes She Can’t Buy: Episode 1”. ENJOY!

Linen Yellow Pants

Linen-Tencel® High-Waisted Buttoned Pants in Dark Yellow | $89.50

These yellow high-waisted Frank & Oak linen & tencel pants. UGH. I can picture it now…wandering the streets of Rome in this and a cute cream linen tank and adorable kitten heals. A basket bag filled with oranges that I just bought from the market. How cute is that thought ?

AGOLDE 90’S Jean Affair | $288

These adorable 90’s cut jeans from AGOLDE…LOOK AT HOW WELL THEY PAIR WITH THOSE CHUCKS (aka the only shoes I wear now). I’ve been seeing AGOLDE all over YouTube and Instagram lately, and I am 100% also getting sucked into the hype.

Babaton Samuel Linen Blazer $228 & Dara Pant $148

If you tell me this whole outfit isn’t the most stunning summer linen vibe EVER, then you’d be lying. Love how they created such a sharp silhouette with such light colours and textures… and then the black textured bralette just ties everything together perfectly. UGH. what a dream. (Babaton Samuel Linen Blazer and Dara Pant)

Wilfred Christine Dress

Wilfred Christine Dress | $128

This dress, this fabric, this pattern…I am so obsessed. Okay picture this: this dress with these sandals and this adorable tiny purse…such a cute Aimee Song moment. And we all know no one does summer style like Aimee does. ??‍♀

Le Fou Wilfred Illona Dress

Le Fou Wilfred Illona Dress | $228

I feel like this dress is very much so inspired by Reformation’s sophisticated summer babe style, but since every blogger ever is already talking about Reformation, I thought I would stray from the status quo and show you guys this piece from Le Fou. Le Fou is a house brand by Aritzia, but it’s their limited edition summer brand, which releases collections every new spring/summer season.

DRESS K009

DRESS K009 | $58

Oak & Fort actually has some adorable summer pieces this year that strays away from their usual neutral, simple, style. Like this “picnic b*tch” dress (as Ashley from bestdressed would call it). Love the yellow gingham pattern and innocent cut, but paired with a pair of strappy sandals, like in the photo, I think it can still look very elevated and sophisticated.

TANK K002

TANK K002 | $28

This green colour has been all the rage lately and I can kind of see why. With ’90/’00s fashion coming back, the cut and colour of this top fits right in and I think it’s an adorable combination. Plus this muted green actually is a pretty versatile colour. Pair it with blue jeans or any light neutral colour of pants and you instantly get a Revolve level summer outfit.

PANT 3430

PANT 3430 | $68

Speaking of light neutral pants, I think these are SO cute and definitely deserve a mention. Definitely a typical O&F cut, these will still show your figure despite it’s baggy straight legs because it will cinch you in at the waist when worn with a belt.

I feel like these ubiquitous strappy sandals go with EVERY look now, but seriously how cute do they look with these pants? They really bring a more feminine vibe to this work wear silhouette.

Check Please https://speakoftheangel.com/check-please/ https://speakoftheangel.com/check-please/#respond Tue, 17 Oct 2017 04:59:51 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=4285 A prominent fall trend this year has been the check patterned fabrics. Specifically blazers, trousers, and trench coats. Although these patterns look great in a suit set, I have been pouring over Pins and IGs of girls clad in checkered blazers and casual mom jeans.

So obviously as soon as I received my blazer from Farlala, I threw on my thrifted/DIY’d mom jeans and out on the town I went.

In anticipation of my trip to New York in December, I’ve been really inspired by “street corner” shots lately. I’m making it a goal to reflect that same “caught on the street” photo vibe rocking an effortless model-off-duty style. But since we all know I look nothing close to a model, let’s just make that term a little more personal and call it “working-girl-off-duty”. ✌?

Also, as a treat to myself for meeting my personal goal of finding a job before the summer was over, I bought myself my first Celine! You’ve probably seen the Trapeze and the Flap bag in some of my previous outfit posts or on Instagram but both of those bags belong to my very fashion forward mother. As my first super high-end luxury purse purchase, I chose the Celine Cabas tote in the large size and the classic pebbled leather.

In correlation to my new found “working-girl-off-duty” vibes, I wanted a purse that I could take to work (which means it needs to be large enough to hold my multitude of pouches and notebooks as well as my laptop) but also to wherever life takes me afterward. I am completely in love with it and have no regrets spending a HUGE chunk of my first paycheque acquiring this beauty. If anyone is down to see a what’s in my work bag video, shoot me a comment below!

Jacket: Farlala | Jeans: Salvation Army | Tube Top: My little sister’s closet | Belt: Gucci | Shoes: Treasure & Bond from Nordstrom | Bag: Celine

Make sure to follow me on Instagram and Twitter to keep up with what I’m up to! I also have been trying to create more content for my YouTube channel where I talk about fashion, beauty, and my travels!

I’ve got a few more pieces from Farlala that I have been loving so keep your eyes peeled for that.

Until next time,

Angel Zheng

A Blast from the Past  https://speakoftheangel.com/a-blast-from-the-past/ https://speakoftheangel.com/a-blast-from-the-past/#respond Tue, 08 Aug 2017 23:04:41 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=4156 It’s no doubt that trends from the 80s and 90s have started to resurface in the past couple of years and it seems like everyone is on board with this blast from the past. Without even realizing, I am started to repeat fashion statements that I wore as a little girl. But it wasn’t until I was looking through some old family photos did I realize… I’m LITERALLY reliving my childhood fashion moments. Young Angel Zheng from the past

Yes, I am wearing DENIM MULES at 5 years old. I may have been even cooler back then than I am now.

I have no recollection of where I might have gotten my pink dress or denim mules (I was only 5 after all), but I can tell you my adult version is from Tobi and my leather sandals are from Steve Madden. These yellow shades from ZeroUV have been an obsession of mine this summer, and so has this canvas tote from Stayhomeclub. Something about this look throws me way, WAY back—and now I understand why.

Monday Mood https://speakoftheangel.com/monday-mood/ https://speakoftheangel.com/monday-mood/#respond Mon, 27 Mar 2017 04:52:22 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=3865 This week (and for the past couple of months) I’ve been eyeing leather slippers, specifically the Gucci Princetown. But now with all these stores coming out with alternative flat mules that won’t break the bank, I’m seriously considering picking up a pair (or two). The only problem that I have with these is that I don’t think they are very sweaty feet friendly. And for someone with that issue, summer might be a pain in the ass.

I know ASOS had some great ones, which I included down below, as well as Steve Madden and Lulus. Don’t know how long this trend is going to stick around but I think this would be a great shoe to have this S/W season.

How have you paired your leather slippers?

GIRLBOSS https://speakoftheangel.com/girlbossoutfit/ https://speakoftheangel.com/girlbossoutfit/#respond Tue, 28 Feb 2017 20:59:23 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=3816 I got really inspired by these new Cohen pants that Aritzia came out with. They softened the pleats and added in a satin stripe down the side and made my favourite trouser pant even better. I love how the stripe added a menswear/tuxedo vibe to the look so I wanted to build a look around that vibe. Not going to lie this look made me feel strong, confident, and a little edgy. I think it’d be a great one for a girls night out or dinner at a hip, fancy restaurant. What’s your go-to girl boss look?

I styled these sleek trousers with an old crisp white cotton dress shirt from Talula. I know some people are going to speak up about the wrinkles and creases in it but I actually love the look of a creased white dress shirt. Especially with a messy look like this one, I think it brings character. I left the one too many buttons open to give a peak to the smooth spandex bralette that I’m wearing underneath. This outfit would also look great with a lace bralette but I wanted to avoid looking too promiscuous on a sunny Sunday.

I wore my favourite menswear inspired coat, the Stedman coat, which I think totally completes the look. I really wanted to capture a “rolled out of bed to conquer the world” look and I think the Stedman is what adds that “girl boss” feel. Throw on a killer pair of booties or heels and you’re ready to take over the world! My shoes are from Browns by Mimosa

Hope everyone is having a productive week so far!

Until next time,

Feeling like a Modern Day Princess https://speakoftheangel.com/feeling-like-modern-day-princess/ https://speakoftheangel.com/feeling-like-modern-day-princess/#respond Mon, 13 Feb 2017 16:23:26 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=3782 Everytime I wear this skirt I feel like a bit of a princess. It’s definitely the girliest item of clothing that I own, and it makes me feel girly when I wear it. But it’s one of those pieces that I don’t even think about getting rid of. Amongst my leathers, black clothes, and distressed denim, this skirt definitely stands out and makes me feel a little different.

I also adore the light blush pink colour of the skirt. I think it’s light enough of a pink that makes it still very wearable and versatile. Anything pinker than this I would start to shy away from. My cravings for spring/summer has definitely kicked in and I’ve been dying to wear some lighter pieces. I paired the skirt with a mauvey-grey turtle neck to ensure I wasn’t freezing to death (there’s still snow outside!)

And yes, I had to wear it with a leather moto and some leather booties. Because modern day princesses are strong, independent, and don’t need no man. All we need is a good leather jacket to conquer the world with. Am I right?!

Valentines day is right around the corner. And although I’m spending it alone, I’m more than content and happy with my life. I’ve got a great support system of family and friends, an amazing internship opportunity starting in March, and a really exciting future ahead of me. What else does a girl need really?

To all of you celebrating Valentines day independently this year, happy Galentines day! or Bruh-lentines day if there happen to be some dudes visiting my blog (??)

Florica. https://speakoftheangel.com/florica/ https://speakoftheangel.com/florica/#respond Wed, 02 Nov 2016 01:00:04 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=2991 My leather jacket obsession definitely started from my mother. She used to buy these crazy leathers in different colours and styles. I especially remember one bright orange leather jacket that she owned and wore every single day for ages. Although I definitely have not gotten as brave as my mom with the statement jackets, I’ve definitely picked up her love.

This is my third leather that I’ve bought for myself and I am absolutely obsessed! I know what you guys are thinking… Angel you already own the Mackage Rumer jacket (which is pretty much the pebbled leather version of this jacket) so why in the world did you buy the Florica. WELL MY FRIENDS… because it’s an obsession I guess.

img_0561

This is how I justified it: Although the cut of the jacket is almost identical to the Rumer, because it is made with a softer calfskin leather, it embodies a much more relaxed look than the thick pebbled leather of the Rumer. I find that my Rumer is the perfect jacket to dress up any look due to its loud pebbled leather and bright silver hardware. Everything on the Florica is much more toned-down, from the gunmetal hardware to the smooth leather. It moulds into any outfit perfectly rather than stand alone as a statement piece like the Rumer does.

And that’s more than enough of a reason for me to invest in this beauty ♥_♥

img_0562 img_0553 img_0563img_0545img_0550

If any of you were wondering I bought a XXS in the Florica because it does fit a lot looser than the Rumer due to the Calfskin. I’ve also learned my lesson with my Kenya jacket, which is made of the same beautiful leather as the Florica, that calfskin tends to stretch A LOT more than the thicker pebbled leather. So taking that in mind I went for the smallest size so that it’ll stretch and mould to my body as I wear it. Between the 3 Mackage leathers, I definitely have always loved my Rumer the most.  But I’m not going to lie, I can sense that I will be reaching for the Florica A LOT as well due to its versatility and muted, but still badass, vibe.

img_0567

Oh and if you were wondering, my top is from Aritzia, jeans are by BDG from Urban Outfitters, and shoes are Alexander Wang!

Hope you guys are having a good week so far! Happy hump day!

XOXO, Gossip Girl https://speakoftheangel.com/xoxo-gossip-girl/ https://speakoftheangel.com/xoxo-gossip-girl/#respond Mon, 24 Oct 2016 21:46:35 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=2972 Every year when summer is ending and fall is beginning I always think to myself “this year I will wear a lot of skirts”. I love fall outfits that feature different skirts (a-line, leather, suede…<3) and constantly want to adopt those skirts into my cold weather wardrobe. However, as soon as the cold actually hits, skirts are pretty much the last thing I want to consider when picking what to wear in the morning! Thankfully we’ve still had some semi-not freezing days so I was able to bring out my Wilfred Free skirt from Aritzia for one last hurray before I stash it away for the winter. img_8450img_8428 untitled-2img_8431 img_8421 img_8420 untitled-3

This corduroy skirt quickly became one of my favourite pieces in my fall wardrobe. I love the neutral brown-ish green colour with the vintage looking buttons. It fits better than other a-line skirts that I’ve seen from other stores. I find that it’s actually really flattering around the bum area and is not too tight but not too flared. The only bone that I have to pick with this skirt is the length! It is quite a short skirt, but as long as you’re not wearing it to a business meeting you’re good to go! As I’ve mentioned before, cropped sweaters are another trendy fall piece that I’ve been obsessed with this season. This really nice scalloped-hem sweater is also from Aritzia and I think it pairs perfectly with this skirt. I had to size up two sizes for this sweater (bought a medium) because of how tight and cropped it is. But I think the medium is a perfect fit for me! It’s the perfect amount of loose and cuddly but also cropped and trendy. I’ll definitely be repeating this outfit a bunch this fall whenever I have the need to dress up.  Threw on tights because it was chilly still outside but also because it made me feel like Blair from Gossip Girl.

img_8423 I’ve just finished my midterms week (FINALLY) which is the reason I’ve been slacking on the blogposts. But I’m back! And ready to get shit done. So keep your eyes peeled for more outfit posts soon!

Hope you guys are having a great Monday.
