How often do you see me in dresses? Skirts? Yes. Dresses? RARE. BUT when I saw this nude number from NA-KD I kind of felt like I had to have it. I think it’s the simplicity and tonal colour of the dress that really drew me in. I loved the double strap detailing and how it criss-crosses in the back. I love the shade of nude it is; perfect grey-ish mauve. I love that it’s a little bit longer; I think the length is super classy. And of course the sexy side cut to show a little leg. UGH. It’s just a perfect dress all in all. 

Some other details I didn’t notice until I tried on the dress was how perfect the neckline is. It’s a nice low V without being OVERLY low. I think it’s a great neckline that will flatter both flat-chested girls (like me) as well as bustier girls. 

The material of this dress is also amazing. It’s a very thick, good-quality material which well-exceeded my expectations, as I was just expecting a typical Forever 21 / H&M type quality. I think it hugs your body really well and, due to the thickness of the fabric, is quite forgiving as well. 

ALSO there is a seam between the top half of the dress which actually cinches in at the small of your waist. I actually wasn’t sure that I would like this feature at first but once I had actually put the dress on I really appreciated the detail that was put into making this dress. That seam really brings everything together and made it that much more flattering on the body. 

Yeah so pretty much this is my perfect ‘night out’ dress. End of story. 

… now if I actually had the chance to wear it that’d be awesome. LOL.

I know I’m a little late on my update of LA but since I’ve been back I’ve been swamped with work and last minute summer activities. Not to mention my laptop crashed on me the day I got back so I’m stuck with using my historic Macbook air which I usually use just for note taking. The importing and uploading of photos REALLY made me appreciate and miss my Macbook Pro :'(

Okay onto a happier topic… LA! LA was an amazing trip and was definitely something I needed before summer ended and school began. Here’s one of the days I spent there.

Started the day off right with brunch at the Commissary in the Line Hotel in Koreatown. It was absolutely magical. I’ve seen photos on IG of it before but it was even more amazing and aesthetically pleasing in person. Overall I have to say the Line Hotel was absolutely beautiful. Very modern and simplistic. Definitely would consider staying there when visiting LA again.

Of course I had to stick with my go-to, an eggs benny. This one replaced the usual ham with prosciutto and oh dear lawd… it was amazing. Pretty much licked my plate after.

Found this cool little balcony on the same floor as the Commissary that just had some benches, plants, and a fire pit. Definitely a very cool vibe and can imagine some great summer chills there.

The rest of the day we just spent exploring different shopping areas such as Rodeo Drive (which was absolutely HEAVENLY) and the Fairfax and Melrose area. The urban culture in LA was just absolutely mind blowing. There were so many really cool stores and boutiques that you wouldn’t find anywhere else. Not to mention all the walls and murals that I thought I’d only ever see on blogger feeds! Definitely wished I had prepared more spending money but I’m glad I reserved most of my money for food and activities rather than shopping. I think for my first real trip to LA I’m happy that I did all that I did and saw all that I saw. We mostly spent our time exploring the areas that we were interested in and eating the food that we were recommended either by friends or found on social media.

Next time I go I am definitely spending more time at the beaches (will be blogging about my Venice Beach/Santa Monica Pier day soon!) and bringing way more spending money! :b

As for my outfit I’m wearing a shirt that I bought from a random local boutique. My shorts are by One Teaspoon which I bought at Aritzia and my shoes are from Shoeme!

Oh yeah and a travel tip: BRING A BACKPACK! My Alexander Wang mini Marti backpack was my go-to for this trip for SURE. I found that having my handsfree was so helpful. Not to mention a lot more comfortable on my shoulders than just a cross-body bag.

It was my bestfriend’s birthday a couple days ago, and we decided to go out and celebrate last night. 

The original plan was to have dinner and then head to Celebrities nightclub for a night out in town, but we ended up just having dinner at Cactus Club and then heading to Millenium, a karaoke place. 

I decided to go for a more casual outfit. If I had known that we would end up at karaoke instead of the club I would’ve been even more casual, but this was fine as well. 

I’ve been getting more and more tired of dressing up for clubbing (especially wearing uncomfortable shoes) so I wanted to wear an outfit that would look cute with sneakers. 

My top is from Brandy Melville, skirt from One Teaspoon and shoes from converse. I gotta say this skirt is one of my favourite purchases of this Summer, and I’m super glad that jean skirts are back in style. Hopefully they stay in style, cause I’m definitely going to be whipping this skirt out a lot next Summer as well.

I finally got my hands on some Birkenstock Arizonas !!! I’ve been thinking on these for a while now, and chose to just bite the bullet since I recently just got a new job ! More about that soon.

I actually was pretty set on purchasing the black pair because I knew that I would get a lot more use out of them, but some how, while I was trying both colours on in the store, I decided on white ! Think it was partially because I had on an all black outfit, and it made the shoes REALLY stand out.  

I’ve spent all day in them now, and oh man, do I want to go back to pick up the black pair. BUT must refrain. I need to stop spending money that I haven’t made yet !

This is definitely going to be the Summer of slippers. You have no idea how much I’m loving the fact that sneakers and slippers are what’s “trendy” now-a-days. Makes my entire life. Hope these trends stick. Don’t think I can revert back to wearing heels and booties.

Sadly, Vancouver Summer isn’t in full bloom yet, and we still get the occasional cloudy/rainy day now and again. And it just so happened that the first day I brought my Stans home, was a cloudy one. I’ve also been using the hell out this new little pleather backpack that I bought online. It’s big enough to fit most things that I want / need to bring around with me, but isn’t so big that it weighs me down. This whole outfit put together definitely threw me back to the high school days a little.

Last week, my friend, Mary, and I drove out to RICE WORLD to do some grocery shopping for our girls night in. Both of us have been trying to reinvent the aesthetics of our instagram feeds, so of course, we hunted down a nice white wall and helped each other take some outfit photos. WHERE DID THE SUN GO VANCOUVER? Y U DO THIS T_T

Before finals season was over for everyone, Vancouver was BEAUTIFUL. Super sunny and warm. Warm enough that I could put on a dress and feel fine. BUT… of course now after everyone has finished their finals and are ready for Summer, Vancouver has to go and be a total asshole and get cold, gloomy, and cloudy. At least it isn’t raining I guess.. ):

This outfit, and variations of it, is/are definitely something I wear constantly during the fall season. But since the weather lately has been so crappy, I was forced to whip it out again.

I remember when everyone used to wear these Adidas zip-ups. So I decided to whip mine out again! I have a baby blue one … thought it was appropriate for the Spring. And I wanted to add SOME colour to my gloomy outfit to up my mood a little.
