Recently received this Making Moves set from Oh Polly and instantly fell in love with how comfortable, high-quality, and versatile this set is. Although the silhouette is similar to just a plain sports bra + bicycle short combo, the thick fabric and ruched detailing make it instantly more dressy and high-fashion. Not only is it double-layered, but it’s also made of an incredibly soft jersey fabric that makes it super easy to want to stay in it all day.

I love how this set looks on its own as a cozy at home or errand set, but it looks great paired with some nice jewelry, a blazer, and some heels or boots.

I decided to throw my oversized vintage blazer on top and wear my gold chain. Thought it also paired great with this vintage wicker back that I picked up a couple of years ago as it also has gold detailing. If I wasn’t so lazy with my outfits these days, I would definitely wear this as a day and night look.

Either way, I’m finally showing my small dress rotation some love and I’ve actually really been enjoying it. One of my favourites is this classic maroon slip dress from Aritzia. The Vivienne dress comes back every season in a few different colours. But it’ll almost always come back in black and white so I would definitely go for one of those.

It’s a little different from some of the other ones I’ve seen in stores because it’s double-lined. It’s got a crepe-y material on top and then it’s lined with a super soft cotton lining which makes wearing the dress extremely comfortable. I find that the double layers also makes the dress drape nicer too.

I’m excited for this new found love for dresses and have already been shopping around to grow my collection. What are your favourite summer dresses?

I’ve dreamt of having my own red brick or brown stone apartment with a fire escape ever since I was small. And although my current apartment is the opposite of all of those requirements, I love it nonetheless. But there’s just something about the thought of being able to crawl on to the fire escape on a warm summer night with a throw blanket, a candle, and maybe a book… is just SUCH an appealing and relaxing thought.

Fire Escape Outfit #1

This is my “I’m Serena Vanderwoodsen visiting Dan Humphrey in Brooklyn and hanging out on his windowsill” outfit—fitting right? Low key does anyone relate most things in New York to Gossip Girl still? I really love how this cropped black turtleneck from Urban Outfitters looks with my wool Hopper skirt from Aritzia.  Definitely gives the outfit a “preppy” feel which I actually really enjoy sporting.

Fire Escape Outfit #2

I wanted to embody my inner “chill girl” vibe with this outfit. It’s what I imagine I would wear on a regular day if I lived in New York. As if I just ran out to the bodega on the corner for the some breakfast, ran some errands, and now I’m hanging out on my fire escape in the Lower East Side. Goals. Both my top and my shorts were purchased at Aritzia, and my shoes are the Nike Low Top AF 1s.

I think most creatives would understand the feeling of being inspired by completely RANDOM things at times. Mine just so happened to be these old-school fire protection stairwells ??‍

I’m going to show you my two Ardene looks, that I’ll be rocking all summer long for music festivals, but also just roamin’ around Vancouver.

Look #1: Comfy in Floral

I’m really favouring one-pieces and matching sets this summer, and this floral romper from Ardene is giving me life. I really like the wrap/cross-over detail in the front. There’s a little clasp in the middle that you can do up if you’re looking to be a little more conservative. I like to wear mine open so that my lace bralette peeks through every now & then. It’s made of a super soft cotton material that’s comfy yet still really breathable for hot weather.

Tie your denim jacket around your waist, and wear shoes that are one of the colours from your patterned piece and voila – you’ve got a perfect music festival outfit.

Look #2: Sweet and Spicy

Red has been on my radar this spring/summer—something about the bright, in-your-face colour has me hooked. Sticking with the floral theme, I’ve been wearing this red smocked floral tube top non-stop since I got it (seriously, check my Instagram). I love how it looks with this dark denim skirt – this look gives me serious Cali vibes. If I lived in Cali, I would wear them around town, for brunch, even to run errands.

The nude, faux-suede mules dress the outfit up, while the daisy clad backpack adds keeps you hands-free when you’re dancing at a show. This outfit even looks great with the denim jacket from the first outfit thrown on top.

Despite Vancouver’s unpredictable weather, these outfits have been making me feel like it’s summer already. I’ve got a few music shows and festivals planned for summer so follow my Instagram and YouTube to make sure you catch a glimpse of me wearing these looks!

I’ve been planning this trip for months; but truthfully, I’ve been planning this trip in my head for years. My fascination with this city sprouted from movies and TV shows, but the show that truly made me daydream about NY was, of course, Gossip Girl. Because if Blair Waldorf and Chuck Bass can find love in New York, then so can I…

KIDDING. Not the purpose of this trip at all. I mainly just want to see all the famous landmarks, buildings, parks, museums, and just overall streets that I’ve been googling since I was a little girl. There’s just a certain magic about New York and it’s one of the cities that I KNOW won’t disappoint. 

I’ve taken it super chill with the planning of this trip. I know areas I want to see, landmarks I want to visit, attractions I want to attend, and food I want to eat. But as far as an itinerary goes—I’m taking it easy this trip. 

Although there is a lot I want to see, I am mostly excited to just explore the city day by day and figure it out as we go. 

My biggest issue right now? How am I supposed to fit all my winter coats in a suitcase?!

I haven’t gotten to use my Polaroid camera in ages so I thought it was about time to whip it out and do something fun with it. I wanted to showcase my autumn/winter wardrobe while also showing you snapshots of my life. Although going to the library isn’t something I frequently do anymore, it is something that I love to do. As is visiting the Art Gallery, strolling through Gastown, and exploring interesting parts of my city that I haven’t before. 

I love creating content like this because while I am “working” I am also doing things that I love and sharing moments with a friend. It’s one of the reasons why I still try to block off time every week to work on these projects.

One of my favourite brands that I’ve collaborated with this year is definitely Farlala. They carry trendier pieces for a reasonable price. I’ve been waiting to style this adorable checked skirt and I’m glad that I finally got the chance to in sunny LA.

I’m obsessed with the button detailing down the front of the skirt and the cute bow. Sadly I’m back in Vancouver where it’s officially winter time but I’m glad I got to rock this baby out before the year ended. Thinking about purchasing a few pairs of pantyhose so maybe I could style this in New York in December!

I thought the skirt paired perfectly with my black tube top bodysuit from Aritzia. And then to dress it down I wore my classic sk8-lo vans and decorated my bag with a red bandana.

If you’ve missed it, I vlogged while I was in LA. We visited a lot of the same place as I did during my last trip so I tried to not film too much of the same content.

I’ve really been trying to create as much as I can since I’ve been on such a steady work schedule. I’ve got weekly videos planned ’til the end of the year so if you enjoyed this vlog, make sure to subscribe to stay updated! Since I’ve started to try to work harder on my YouTube I’ve definitely been slacking on the blog (someone teach me how to balance things please) but I’m slowly trying to find a workflow that allows me to do both equally.

2018 is going to be my year to hustle. But also my year to get accustomed to being the independent girl that I’ve worked hard to become. Part of that will entail working on passion projects (my blog, YouTube, and Instagram) and other things that make me happy. One of the main reasons I started blogging was to share my experiences with people who can relate. I’m making it a goal to do more of that this year and less shallow, filler content.

I paired this shirt with a pair of distressed vintage Levis cut-off shorts and my mom’s Stuart Weitzman loafers. And for those of you wondering, I have the BIGGEST struggle buying pre-cut vintage shorts that most retailers carry now. I literally have to try on about ten pairs before I can find even one that fits me semi-decently. So if you also have that struggle… don’t worry. It’s not just you.
