Although my schedule hasn’t changed that drastically since social distancing became the norm here in Canada, I can’t say I completely haven’t been affected at all mentally. At the end of the day, I’d say there’s definitely still a difference in how you feel when you choose not to go outside as compared to when you’re literally not able to.

So how do I combat it? I’ve been trying to dress for spring even if I’m just hanging out in my living room!

Here are my favourite pieces of Spring 2020 so far.

Light Trench Coat

oak and fort beige spring trench coat

Vancouver gets way too cold in the winter to wear Trench Coats so really they’re the most perfect for Spring and early Fall. Loving this light trench from Oak and Fort this season. O+F has always been a favourite of mine since they offer really gorgeous seasonal pieces at a decent price.

Light Blue Midi Wrap Dress

Oak and Fort peony blush dress

I’ve always correlated wrap dresses to spring/summer and this dress is the epitome of how I imagined the perfect spring dress to look. I love the flowy sleeves and how the fabric drapes over your body in the most flattering manner. If I had any warm weather weddings to go to, this would be my go-to.

Light Blush Sweaters

Capsule the brand blush sweater

Although springtime in Vancouver can be sunny and beautiful, it can often stay cold all the way up until May. One of my favourite transitional pieces has got to be the thin knit sweaters. Really loving blush pink this year and I think this piece from Capsule the brand is the perfect spring sweater.

Graphic Crewnecks

Graphic crewneck for spring by capsule the brand

Would it be a quarantine spring fashion if I didn’t include one cozy sweatshirt? Loving this bold crewneck from Capsule the brand. It comes in Grey and Nude and I think it’s the perfect unique crew for spring.

Leather Vests

Leather Vest for spring 2020 from Jing US

Vests are making a huge come back this year and this piece by J.ING is one of my absolute favourites. I first saw it on Ellen V Lora in one of her Japan photos and I fell in love with it. I love how it instantly dresses up any sweatshirt or hoodie, which is actually the perfect solution for everyone who’s getting way too used to being in loungewear!

Oversized Blazer

I honestly couldn’t go into any season without a good blazer, especially Spring/Summer. Blazers are the perfect light jacket to elevate any outfit. This one by Bawbee Shop is one of my all-time favourite pieces that I own. It’s thick and soft and it’s the perfect oversized, boyfriend fit. What more can you really ask for in a blazer?

Which piece was your favourite?

GIRLBOSS https://speakoftheangel.com/girlbossoutfit/ https://speakoftheangel.com/girlbossoutfit/#respond Tue, 28 Feb 2017 20:59:23 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=3816 I got really inspired by these new Cohen pants that Aritzia came out with. They softened the pleats and added in a satin stripe down the side and made my favourite trouser pant even better. I love how the stripe added a menswear/tuxedo vibe to the look so I wanted to build a look around that vibe. Not going to lie this look made me feel strong, confident, and a little edgy. I think it’d be a great one for a girls night out or dinner at a hip, fancy restaurant. What’s your go-to girl boss look?

I styled these sleek trousers with an old crisp white cotton dress shirt from Talula. I know some people are going to speak up about the wrinkles and creases in it but I actually love the look of a creased white dress shirt. Especially with a messy look like this one, I think it brings character. I left the one too many buttons open to give a peak to the smooth spandex bralette that I’m wearing underneath. This outfit would also look great with a lace bralette but I wanted to avoid looking too promiscuous on a sunny Sunday.

I wore my favourite menswear inspired coat, the Stedman coat, which I think totally completes the look. I really wanted to capture a “rolled out of bed to conquer the world” look and I think the Stedman is what adds that “girl boss” feel. Throw on a killer pair of booties or heels and you’re ready to take over the world! My shoes are from Browns by Mimosa

Hope everyone is having a productive week so far!

Until next time,

Le Marché St. George https://speakoftheangel.com/le-marche-st-george/ https://speakoftheangel.com/le-marche-st-george/#respond Thu, 17 Sep 2015 07:03:44 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1227 Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

The other day I visited my favourite little cafe in Vancouver. Le Marche St. George is this beautiful little gem hidden away in a neighbourhood in Vancouver East. It’s definitely not your usual, run-of-the-mill cafe. Nestled on the corner of E 28th ave and St. George street, it’s this beautiful little neighbourhood general store/cafe/event space/home.

One reason this place is number one in my heart, as far as cafe’s go, is the vibe. The owners did an amazing job making this place warm and cozy and welcoming. The way everything is set up, from the giant pillows on the window seat, to the marble coffee tables, to the usage of reclaimed wood…. In my eyes Le Marché is decorated PERFECTLY.

This time around, I had an iced latte with hazelnut syrup, and a beef pot pie. You should probably never visit here and NOT have a beef pot pie. So. Heavenly.

I also got to briefly chat with one of the owners of the place, and he mentioned to me that they have a pop-up sale coming up in Spring ! Definitely will be keeping my eyes peeled for that.

More soon,

Vancouver is slowly but surely movin’ on from Spring to Summer. It’s been so sunny lately, it’s slightly unbelievable. The fact that I was actually able to wear a dress today BLOWS MY MIND. But this is a good sign because it means by the time my birthday rolls around in the start of May, it’ll be nice and warm outside (:

SO ! here’s my first official warm weather OOTD.

Slip Dress : Brandy Melville | Flannel : Garage | Sandals : China | Bag : China | Necklace : Tiffany and Co

I’ve wanted a slip dress for a while now, and recently actually purchased two ! This one is from Brandy Melville. It’s a light weight Cotton and Viscose dress, that has a tie and a low scoop in the back. I love the versatility of slip dresses. You can dress it up, dress it down, and layer it. It’s pretty much perfect for the mild Vancouver weather.

And don’t even get me started on flannels. Probably my favourite creation in the world. A nice classic lumberjack flannel is perfect for keeping your warm when it gets windy… and then you can just tie it around your waist when you get too warm. And not to mention you can practically wear them with anything.

May have done a little bit of shopping lately, but can you really blame me? It’s nearly summer, and my wardrobe was definitely in serious need of some revamping. Pretty much everything I’ve been buying lately have been basics, and summer clothes. Skirts, crop tops, t-shirts etc. As much as I want to continue looking at big cardigans and sweaters, I though it was about time to switch my focus over to trying to find clothes I could sport this summer.

I think I’ve mentioned in a previous post, my love for crop tops and skirts. I figured since it’s such a classic look, and you can definitely mix and match your different pieces, I would gift myself with some new ones. You can barely tell from the photos (gloomy day, sorry), but the ribbed top I’m wearing is actually a beautiful maroon colour. The top itself (Joanne Tank from Brandy Melville) is actually a little bit longer than how I wore it in the pictures, but I just folded the bottom edge of the shirt in, so it would look more like a cropped top. As for my skirt, I bought it from Aritzia and it’s the Wilfred Free Shields skirt. Definitely going to be a summer favourite… I can feel it. It’s a stretchy, thin knit-feeling material, and hugs the hips well. Not to mention, I’m digging the slit a LOT.

As for the other things I’m wearing, my little moto jacket is from Armani Exchange, and my grey bag is from Michael Kors.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post ! and definitely expect some more outfit posts soon ! I’ve finally been putting my tri-pod to better use, and been testing out the waters a little with taking my own outfit pictures. Let me know what you think !

Excuse my background by the way. I realized I had no empty walls that aren’t either decorated with paintings, or have a shelf in front of it, so my semi-white closet doors will have to do for now.

Much love,
