There has been culottes, trousers, blazers, and even trench coats trending in this navy and white pinstripe pattern. My favourite by far has to be this dress shirt from Aritzia. Something about the way the fabric hangs as well as the slightly baggy silhouette, really satisfies my menswear to womenswear obsession. I also love wearing it buttoned halfway and off one or both shoulders to give it an effortless messy look.

I paired this shirt with a pair of distressed vintage Levis cut-off shorts and my mom’s Stuart Weitzman loafers. And for those of you wondering, I have the BIGGEST struggle buying pre-cut vintage shorts that most retailers carry now. I literally have to try on about ten pairs before I can find even one that fits me semi-decently. So if you also have that struggle… don’t worry. It’s not just you.

This weekend is Canada Day weekend so to all of my Canadians out there, Happy Canada Day! And have a wicked long weekend.

Until next time,

Wrapped up in Bench https://speakoftheangel.com/wrapped-up-in-bench/ https://speakoftheangel.com/wrapped-up-in-bench/#respond Wed, 28 Jun 2017 05:11:03 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=3985 I finally caved and got sucked into the wrap skirt trend! I was hesitant for a while because I hadn’t really found one that fits me the way I want. Most that I saw were either a little too long, a little too short, or just was not flattering for my narrow hips.

I fell in love with this one because of the simplicity of it as well as the jersey fabric that seems to hug me in all the right places. I like that the extra fabric on the sides makes it look like I have hips, and the elastic band waist cinches me in at the waist. Not to mention the thin t-shirt material is extremely comfortable and breathable for the summer time ?

I definitely see myself rocking this skirt a lot more this summer, especially with the mini heat waves we’ve been experiencing. Can’t wait to see what other pieces Bench comes out with for the summer!

Caught up with some olds friends, made some new (doggy) friends, ate pasta, and had ice cream for dessert. Can you think of a more perfect summer day?

How was your Tuesday?

I started collaborating with this amazing brand called Peace Collective a month or two back and oh man I’m in love. They are a Toronto based brand that not only sells cute ass clothes but also serves a greater purpose. They work with a lot of different influencers and content creators around Canada and strive to bring communities together in either empowering each other or for a greater cause. They also give $4 of the profit from selected garments to Breakfast to Learning, which provides a hungry child with two meals and a healthy snack.

A big thing that Peace Collective focuses on with all their garments is their love and pride for their home. Whether that’s Toronto specifically or Canada in general, all of their pieces reflect that love by featuring phrases such as “Toronto is Home”, “Home is Canada”, and “Canadian as fuck”.

I love that the concept behind this and am so proud to rep their brand and our home.

I was blessed enough to receive this amazing pink bomber as a birthday gift from PC. So not only are they a great brand with a bomb message but everyone is also nice as hell to boot. *Dies from disbelief*.

Definitely going to be creating a lot more content with their brand so stay tuned for that! But for now, if you want to get your own Peace Collective gear and rep Canada with me you can use my coupon code “speakoftheangel_” for 15% off. My favourite pieces so far are definitely their Denim Jacket and the Canadian as fuck hat

To The Tee https://speakoftheangel.com/to-the-tee/ https://speakoftheangel.com/to-the-tee/#respond Fri, 24 Jun 2016 05:54:40 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=2149 Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I feel like the older I get, the more I’m starting to lean back towards classic pieces and neutral colours. Definitely went through a colours and prints phase in high school (goodbye forever hot pink tights and yellow skinny jeans) but I’m feeling more comfortable than ever being back in the basics. I feel like every wardrobe needs certain pieces to make it complete. A luxurious pair of denim, a classic leather jacket, a timeless purse, or even just a simple white tee.

With all the different cuts and fabrics that exist with simple white tees nowadays, it’s actually kind of difficult to find that perfect white tee. And I’m definitely not saying there’s a PERFECT white tee that is going to meet ALL your needs and when you find it THAT’S IT. Nope. I own about 10 different white tees, and they’re all perfect in totally different ways. (Neurotic, I know.)

Recently, however, I have definitely been reaching for this ‘Spot Short Slv’ tee by Bench a bit more than my other tees. I really like the length of this tee and where it hits on my hips when I wear my mid-rise jeans (which is ALWAYS since it hasn’t actually been hot enough for shorts lately). Not to mention it’s incredibly soft and breathable which is perfect for Vancouver’s bipolar summer weather.

I also absolutely love the low-cut back of this tee (as shown here). I think it adds a unique factor to the shirt without compromising the simplicity of it which is always a plus in my books.

I dressed up my white ‘Spot Short Slv’ shirt with my Mackage ‘Rumer’ jacket as well as some cute sandals from H&M. This look is essentially a mash-up of all my closet staples, which pretty much creates my perfect go-to look. VOILA.

Hope you guys are having a really great week!

WAY UP https://speakoftheangel.com/way-up/ https://speakoftheangel.com/way-up/#respond Sat, 11 Jun 2016 07:06:08 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=2055 Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Had an amazing shoot day with Vernice earlier this week. We shot on the roof of a hotel in downtown Vancouver. Had to do some searching and hop a fence but when we made it ooooo was it worth it. There aren’t actually many publicly accessible roof tops in Vancouver. But when you find one, you really appreciate the unobstructed view of the cityscape. We might not be a big city, but we’re doing okay.

It was extra humid that day and the sun was BLARING. Thankfully my barely-there summer outfit helped from overheating.

Finally bought a necktie choker! Was really not sure if I’d like these or not but thought I’d give a try. It was definitely VERY uncomfortable when I first started wearing it. But after a while, you get used to something being that close to your neck and you forget that it’s there. It’s definitely grown on me. My all black one is from Aldo.

Love that I actually have time to explore and shoot around the city now! Stay tuned because there will definitely be loads of cool shots this summer!

Laced-Up for Cheap! https://speakoftheangel.com/laced-up/ https://speakoftheangel.com/laced-up/#respond Sun, 22 May 2016 05:05:33 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=2030 Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

I know I’m probably the LAST person to get a lace-up, long-sleeve body suit BUT WHATEVER. I’ve jumped on the bandwagon and I’m in LOOOVVVVE! One of the reasons I took so long to get one is because I really wasn’t sure if the low cut V would be flattering on me since I’m definitely a part of the tiny-titty-committee (who’s with me?). But my flat-chested girls don’t fret! I think the look actually looks quite nice on us! I feel like we have an upper hand in situations like this because our lack of cleavage actually makes the bodysuit more wearable ! I can imagine that this would look a little too much for broad daylight if I had a lot of cleavage. But since I don’t I felt a lot more comfortable FOR SURE. Plus I don’t have to worry that my boobs are going to pop out any where! HUZZAH! It’s a glorious day for us flatties!

I got my body suit from a online retailer called SheInside that sells really affordable and fashionable pieces! The only downfall to the site would be the slow shipping. But honestly, for the super competitive prices that they have it is definitely worth the wait!

I’ve seen lace-up body suits sell from$30 to up to $60!!! Absolute insanity… but that’s what happens when something becomes super trendy I guess ): Fortunately for those of us who want to stay on-trend but don’t want to break the bank this SheInside one is only around $12! (BLESSSSSS)

As for the quality, honestly it’s better than I expected! My initial thought was that the quality must be terrible if the price is that long. However, it’s actually quite amazing! I thought that it was going to be a regular cotton or jersey material but the bodysuit actually turned out to be a nice spandex material that molds to the body perfectly. I would recommend wearing pasties with it since you won’t be able to wear a bra with it. The fit is amazing and the bottom is connected with little buttons so it’s a lot more convenient when you have to go to the washroom. (HALLELUJAH)

I’ll link the bodysuit here if you want to check it out! I might go back and cop the green one as well.

If you’ve shopped at SheInside before let me know your experience with them down below! Or if you end up copping the bodysuit let me know how you like it!

Hardy Shoes! https://speakoftheangel.com/hardy-devon/ https://speakoftheangel.com/hardy-devon/#respond Wed, 18 May 2016 23:44:51 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=2015 Processed with VSCO with a6 presetShoeme (or Shoes.com if you’re in the U.S.) now has their very own brand of shoes! I was given the opportunity to choose a pair of shoes from their new brand, Hardy, to try out and I was beyond excited. Hardy shoes all have this great ‘men’s fashion’ silhouette and are all slim, sleek, and GAAAWWW-GEOUS. Processed with VSCO with a6 presetProcessed with VSCO with a6 preset Processed with VSCO with a6 preset Processed with VSCO with a6 preset Processed with VSCO with a6 preset Processed with VSCO with a6 presetAfter much deliberation, (like literally took me over an hour just to pick a style), I decided on the Devon style in the colour ‘Mushroom’. The Devon shoe has a Nubuck leather outer layer and has a leather lining. My favourite part of the shoe has got to be its cushioned sole, making the shoe really comfortable. BUT I would recommend sizing up half a size especially if you have wider feet like me. Although I am usually a true 7.5 in shoes, I found that the slim shape of the shoe made it tight for my feet. I’ve only worn the shoe twice so far so I think it definitely still needs to be broken in, but I think size 8 would’ve been a good idea cause the shoe would be comfortable right off the bat.

Other than that I really love the shape and style of the Devon shoe! I think it’s a very classic oxford shape with an elegant feminine twist. Plus how LOVELY is the ‘Mushroom’ colour though? Perfect for the spring/summer. I’m going to stick a shoe stretcher into it and see if it helps break in the leather a little. Will keep you guys updated on how it feels!

Spring Sandals https://speakoftheangel.com/spring-sandals/ https://speakoftheangel.com/spring-sandals/#comments Sun, 03 Apr 2016 05:14:13 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1776 Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

Vancouver weather has been nothing short of perfection this past week!

I started the week off (it was Easter Monday) with a hike at the Chief (will post pictures of that soon) and have made plans to go kayaking this weekend. Like I promised, I’m diving head first into Spring this year and getting an early start on my fun, warm-weather activities. Although I’m still only half way through my semester at school, I’m really trying to make time for fun adventures and activities. I find that it helps with the stress of the workload. As important as it is for me to power through and finish school, my happiness still comes first!

Anyways, that’s beside the point. I wanted to feature my new Dolce Vita Louise sandals from ShoeMe.ca. (*) I’ve actually been looking for a new pair of Spring/Summer sandals since I wrecked all of mine from before and these really are puuuuurrrrfect. I really like how they aren’t just flat sandals. Although the wedge is just a little kitty wedge, I love that when you’re looking at the front of the shoe it looks like you’re wearing heels which really elongates the legs. And that’s always a good thing in my books.

I also love that they’re so. damn. comfortable!!! I’m definitely a sneakers > heels girl so the one thing I was worried about was how my feet were going to feel in these strappy babies. Usually strappy + heel means PAIN IN THE BUTT. Luckily these weren’t like that at all. I think the heel is the perfect height to add a little something something to the shoe while still keeping it wearable and comfortable. The heel is actually really nice because if gives your feet a little bit more support than regular sandals do. I find that completely flat sandals make my feet extremely sore at the end of the day from the lack of support. Is that just me?

I’ve honestly got so many other looks I want to wear with these shoes and I can’t wait to share them with you guys! Make sure you follow me on Instagram and Twitter to keep up with all my new updates <3
