Some days you’re healthy and you wear regular sweaters that actually keep you warm. Some days you have strep throat and you wear cropped sweaters ?

Clearly not making the best life choices but I’m too obsessed with this sweater! I purchased this yesterday at Urban Outfitters. Usually, by this time of the year, I usually am ready to settle down and lose myself in carbs and only be seen in big sweaters and even bigger coats. But this year, I’ve wanted to maintain my summer bod and my way to stay motivated is by wearing cropped sweaters!

The one that I’m wearing is by Silence + Noise. It’s got amazing thick ribbing details and frayed edges which are both features that I love in sweaters. Not to mention the amazing slouchy silhouette is truly giving me life this autumn.

It also comes in a black colour and I am seriously considering copping it as well because THAT’S how much I love it.

I also really like this one, also by Silence + Noise, in the mustard yellow colour. The fit is very different but I like how it’s still a baggier fit.

If you’re not looking to spend $80 dollars on a trendy sweater, Forever 21 has some great affordable options that are just as cute.

The first frayed maroon one has the most similar feel to the UO one I’m wearing but it’s actually a knit hoodie. The second maroon one is a tighter fit but has an amazing frayed and distressed detailing. There’s also the black frayed sweater which is only distressed at the hems if you’re not into distressing in the middle of sweaters. It’s also a nice baggier fit. Along the same category, but a slightly different style, is this beige cropped turtleneck that I think is SO CUTE (and may need to order RIGHT NOW). The hems have this adorable bunching detail ?. And then of course, can’t go without a basic cropped sweater. I adore the v-neck and the baggie fit. Not to mention the colour is SO perfect for fall.

What’s been your favourite trend this fall?

MY SILVER LINING https://speakoftheangel.com/my-silver-lining/ https://speakoftheangel.com/my-silver-lining/#comments Wed, 30 Mar 2016 06:35:47 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1339 Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

I gotta say, although I love how classy and rich gold jewelry looks, a part of me will always still love silver. Something about the cold crisp and sleek look that silver gives off… it really stands out. This outfit was taken quite a while back, when I first bought my wang boots. It took me about an hour to decide between rose gold and silver but, as you can see, the heart wants what the heart wants. I still don’t regret my decision one bit. These Wangs were definitely a silver lining for me. (HA see what I did there)

WOW has it been busy lately… School, work… everything is really starting to pile up. It’s gotten to the point where I really don’t have the time (or energy) to do anything other than go to school, and go to work.

This past weekend was Halloween however, and I actually went out! #MUCHWOW. Went to an event called Dooms. For someone who hasn’t done anything but studied for the past couple of months, I still managed to dance my little butt off for 6 whole hours. BUT that means I am (and probably will be for the next week or so) in recovery mode. HENCE the basic outfit. I also had a presentation at school today, so I pretty much had no choice, but to wear the black blouse and pants combination.

I added my “coatigan” (which is today’s fancy hybrid of a coat and a cardigan), which I got from Express 2 years ago. I think it adds a nice cozy touch to the otherwise boring outfit. I really like how the front of this piece has two, big, flowing lapels. I think it gives it a more dressy look, and I love pairing it with dresses in the colder months.

I usually forget to wear jewelry, but today I remembered to put on my initial necklace from JQ Vancouver. JQ Vancouver is a jewelry seller based out of Vancouver. Currently their jewelry is carried in a few small stores in the area, and sold online on their website. So if you like this little number, go and check them out ! I’ll link their Instagram account here as well.

Hope your week is no where near as stressful as mine !

The BOMB(er) dot com https://speakoftheangel.com/the-bomber-dot-com/ https://speakoftheangel.com/the-bomber-dot-com/#respond Wed, 07 Oct 2015 05:56:31 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1318 Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset Processed with VSCOcam with a6 preset

I’ve been looking for a non-cropped green bomber for fall since this past summer. There were some great looking ones at Topshop and Forever 21, but every time I pick one up to try on, they all turn out to be a little too short for my liking. Blame it on my height I guess, but it was actually so difficult for me to find one that didn’t cut me off above my waistline.

Luckily, I stumbled upon this one while I accidentally walked into the men’s section of Urban Outfitters the other day. My eyes zipped right to it and it was love at first sight. I actually even said aloud “damn I wish I could fit into men’s sizes” and low and behold… they had an extra small that fit me just right.

Usually when I try on men’s clothing that I like, its the shoulders that mess everything up. Although I have quite square and wide shoulders, they still usually aren’t enough to fit into a men’s shirt or jacket. However, with this piece, I was able to make it work because I actually wanted my bomber to be slightly over-sized. Plus I was going to be layering it on top of warmer clothes for the fall and winter, so having a little wiggle room wasn’t necessarily a bad thing at all. I also love that this one is quilted and the fact that it actually keeps me warm.

And of course, that it’s a little longer than your average bomber, and cuts me off at mid bum/hip. LOOOOOVE IT.

If you’ve been having the same issue as me, definitely check out the mens section of Topshop and Urban Outfitters. I’m so glad I stumbled across this cause it’s definitely going to be a staple piece in my fall wardrobe this year.

Also, this nude nail and bomber look has got me feeling all Kardashian-esque. They should probably just adopt me into their family now. (Kangel Kardashian has a certain ring to it right?)

STAN THE MAN https://speakoftheangel.com/stan-the-man/ https://speakoftheangel.com/stan-the-man/#respond Mon, 18 May 2015 17:24:17 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=942

Sadly, Vancouver Summer isn’t in full bloom yet, and we still get the occasional cloudy/rainy day now and again. And it just so happened that the first day I brought my Stans home, was a cloudy one. I’ve also been using the hell out this new little pleather backpack that I bought online. It’s big enough to fit most things that I want / need to bring around with me, but isn’t so big that it weighs me down. This whole outfit put together definitely threw me back to the high school days a little.

Sweater : Noul

Tshirt : Uniqlo

Pants : BDG

Shoes : Adidas Originals

Bag : Ebay

Favourite Nail Polishes (of all time !) https://speakoftheangel.com/favourite-nail-polishes/ https://speakoftheangel.com/favourite-nail-polishes/#respond Wed, 11 Mar 2015 07:00:54 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=548 favourite nail polishes !

Being a girl of nature, I seem to always revolve around the same nail colours and brands. You’re rarely see me in colours that are not shown in the above picture. Obviously I’ve had my share of sunshine yellow nails, and sparkly purple claws, but no matter what, I seem to always come back to a few colours and brands. Currently, these are the nail polishes that I can’t get enough of !

From left to right, top to bottom…

  1. Revlon Colorstay – Mocha
  2. Essie – Ignite the Night
  3. Urban Outfitters – Bombay Funk
  4. Sally Hansen Insta-dri – Cinna Snap
  5. Urban Outfitters – Champagne Toast
  6. Essie – Mezmerised
  7. Essie – Lapiz of Luxury
  8. Revlon – Valentine
  9. Essie – Sand Tropez
  10. H&M – Tea with Milk

What nail polishes do you religiously wear ?

Until next time !

Black Valentines. https://speakoftheangel.com/456/ https://speakoftheangel.com/456/#respond Sun, 15 Feb 2015 04:31:53 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=456 (null)

My first post in the fashion category! How exciting ! And on Valentine’s Day too. Although this post probably won’t go up until the end of V-day, these were all taken shortly after brunch with the girls. We went to Yolks which is located in a very industrial part of Vancouver, down by E. Hastings and Knight St. So we took advantage of cool backdrops and got some outfit of the day pictures !

(null)

This Valentine’s Day is the first one in a while that I’ve spent single, so I decided on an all-black outfit to mourn for my love life and match my soul. Ha. Ha. Deep right? (Not really, I’m actually really lame in real life). You can’t really tell, but my scarf is actually a deep maroon colour, so technically I was still dressed to celebrate Valentine’s day… sort of.

Outfit Details :

Jacket : Armani Exchange

Top : Zara

Bralette : Aritzia

Jeans : BDG (Urban Outfitters)

Shoes : Spring

Scarf : Wilfred (Aritzia)

Bag : Celine

(null)

Ever since I purchased this Aritzia pop art blanket scarf, I pretty much haven’t put it down. The size, the thickness, the colour, the design; It’s the perfect scarf for me. Now when I try on any other scarfs, nothing feels the same. I think it’s mostly the texture and size of the scarf that makes it so appealing to me. Because you can wear it diagonally and long like how I wore it in the photo, or you can wrap it around and wear it thick and large ! (It kind of looks like an infinity scarf when you wrap it around your neck once or twice). Sadly, it’s known as the “basic b*tch” scarf because pretty much every girl in Vancouver owns one. But that’s okay, I love it nonetheless.

Now that I’ve got TWO friends who started up blogs, Terri and Janice, hopefully I will be able to get them to help me take outfit pictures more often !
