I know my outfit photos have been less than interesting lately with the plain backgrounds. But I’ve had no time to actually whip out my trusty DSLR and go some where nice to shoot. Lately all my outfits have been shot quickly between classes on random plain walls that my school provides. Still got to do it though ! I hope that when spring rolls around and the daylight lasts longer I will have more time to spend on shooting. But as of right now, between 7 courses and working 3 days a week, these will just have to do.

So I recently purchased this adorable quilted bomber jacket at Aritzia. It actually went on sale from 150ish down to about 70ish (I don’t remember the exact prices) so I copped it right away. It’s definitely not your typical varsity styled bomber jacket. It’s got a more sleek, squared-off silhouette rather than the relaxed, slouchy fit you see most of the time. Something about this jacket gives off a Japanese-y / Oriental vibe, which I find really attractive and unique.

It’s also not a very long jacket which is a feature I usually don’t like. But I think the slight crop with this jacket works really well with it’s boxy silhouette. It’s boxy yet still slimming somehow. I LOVE IT.

I think it’s one of those awesome pieces that’s easy to wear, warm, and looks effortlessly stylish. Which is SO necessary to have when you’ve got 8:30 classes everyday, and practically no time to plan outfits.

RIANS BLOUSE https://speakoftheangel.com/rians-blouse/ https://speakoftheangel.com/rians-blouse/#comments Fri, 31 Jul 2015 07:14:49 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=1162 Processed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with a6 preset  Processed with VSCOcam with 6 preset

I recently got convinced by my floor manager at Aritzia to purchase the Rians blouse. Honestly, I’ve seen in on so many different people, and never could imagine myself purchasing it. It’s high neckline and slightly cropped length never really enticed me. However, I let my momager convince me to at least try it on and I ended up pretty much falling in love with it upon first glance. The cut of it is surprisingly flattering (especially on us flatter-chested girls) and the length honestly didn’t bother me that much. Especially since I’ve been leaning more and more towards slightly higher-waisted bottoms once I started working at Aritzia (hello Rockets !), the length actually turns out to go with a lot of my newer bottoms.

We just relaunched this blouse in the a gorgeous dark plum colour, which I think will be my next purchase for sure ! Make sure you get your hands on it before it runs out !

I finally caved and bought the Wilfred Hymne Dress.

The Hymne dress  this beautiful linen maxi dress that cinches in around the waist and flows out beautifully. It’s been the biggest debate of this Summer whether or not it would’ve been worth it for me to purchase it. I’ve definitely been leaning towards expanding my wardrobe and style but to a maxi linen dress? mmmm….. not sure.

Although I was unsure for so long, when I finally decided to just bite the bullet and give it ago, I was super glad I did. The dress has a beautiful fit that accentuated my long body, and the low cut in the back allowed me to show off my tattoos a little, which I haven’t been able to do too much of this Summer.

I ended up pairing the pilgrim-y vibed dress with my classic low-top chucks (can never go wrong) and just a regular jean jacket. I wanted to try to make the style my own, since I’ve been practically living in my denim jacket and sneakers all Summer. Ended up actually loving how it looked !

The Hymne dress is on sale for $99 right now (originally $145) so definitely go give it a look over in stores or online. I’m probably not going to get too much wear out of it past Summer, but I honestly don’t mind at all considering how beautifully it fits and looks !

This is me diving in head first into the whole linen trend !

Black Valentines. https://speakoftheangel.com/456/ https://speakoftheangel.com/456/#respond Sun, 15 Feb 2015 04:31:53 +0000 http://speakoftheangel.com/?p=456 (null)

My first post in the fashion category! How exciting ! And on Valentine’s Day too. Although this post probably won’t go up until the end of V-day, these were all taken shortly after brunch with the girls. We went to Yolks which is located in a very industrial part of Vancouver, down by E. Hastings and Knight St. So we took advantage of cool backdrops and got some outfit of the day pictures !

This Valentine’s Day is the first one in a while that I’ve spent single, so I decided on an all-black outfit to mourn for my love life and match my soul. Ha. Ha. Deep right? (Not really, I’m actually really lame in real life). You can’t really tell, but my scarf is actually a deep maroon colour, so technically I was still dressed to celebrate Valentine’s day… sort of.

Outfit Details :

Jacket : Armani Exchange

Top : Zara

Bralette : Aritzia

Jeans : BDG (Urban Outfitters)

Shoes : Spring

Scarf : Wilfred (Aritzia)

Bag : Celine

Ever since I purchased this Aritzia pop art blanket scarf, I pretty much haven’t put it down. The size, the thickness, the colour, the design; It’s the perfect scarf for me. Now when I try on any other scarfs, nothing feels the same. I think it’s mostly the texture and size of the scarf that makes it so appealing to me. Because you can wear it diagonally and long like how I wore it in the photo, or you can wrap it around and wear it thick and large ! (It kind of looks like an infinity scarf when you wrap it around your neck once or twice). Sadly, it’s known as the “basic b*tch” scarf because pretty much every girl in Vancouver owns one. But that’s okay, I love it nonetheless.

Now that I’ve got TWO friends who started up blogs, Terri and Janice, hopefully I will be able to get them to help me take outfit pictures more often !

More soon,
